Following recent legislation, all new schools must now be either Academies or Free Schools. The Free School legislation allowed the parent proposers of King's School to define a school that local people really want. We receive the same level of funding as other local schools, and in common with other local schools that have converted to Academy status we are funded directly by Government rather than by the Local Authority. Nevertheless we work in partnership with the Local Authority to ensure that our school makes a positive contribution to the local family of schools.
Under the 2011 Education Act, all future new schools must be either Academies or Free Schools. More information about Academies and Free schools can be found here.
