In our first year of GCSE exams King’s celebrated an exceptional set of GCSE results. 72% of our founding cohort of students achieved 5 or more good grades, including English and Maths. Our core subjects performed especially well with 83% in English and 81% in Maths at grade 4 or above. The average grade for our students per exam was a grade 5 (described nationally as ‘a strong pass’); 40% of all grades were at grade 6 or above and 10% of all grades were the prestigious top grades 8 and 9. Those students who have been with us for the full five years since our opening in 2013 appear to have made progress in the top 5% nationally.
With exceptional individual achievements across the board, our 83 founding students notched up a total of 23 top grade 9 passes across the curriculum. We are exceptionally proud of our top achiever, Gavin Man who secured 8 top grade 9s, 2 A*s, 3 grade 8s and 1 grade A. Gavin joined Brighton College in September 2018 on a full scholarship.
There were individual successes at all ability levels and behind every set of examination results there is, of course, a personal story of hard work, commitment and perseverance. These outcomes are a result of the hard work of the students, the support of their family and friends and the dedication of the staff at the school.
