Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 Sixth Form

Term 1: Identity and Culture - Who am I?

Students will learn and understand the following concepts through the topic of Identity and Culture:

– present tense of regular –er verbs and of irregular verbs (avoir, être, aller and others)

– adjectival agreement

– definite and indefinite articles

– prepositions

– possessive adjectives

– reflexive verbs in the present tense

– emphatic pronouns

– the near future tense

– the perfect tense (both verbs with avoir and with être)

– the imperfect tense

– using a combination of tenses

Speaking and Listening Assessment.

The speaking assessment is on the topic of Identity and Culture. It follows the GCSE format and will contain conversation questions regarding the entire topic as well as a role play and/or photocard. The listening will test a range of vocabulary and structures from the whole topic.

The module encourages students to reflect on their own characters and opinions as well as their relationships with others.

Create a supportive community:
Students can understand and appreciate differences in personality and reflect upon what makes a successful relationship.

Term 2: Daily Life

Students will learn and understand the following concepts through the topic of daily and cultural life:

– depuis + the present tense

– the relative pronouns qui and que

– comparative adjectives

– direct object pronouns (le, la, les)

– the superlative

– consolidation of the imperfect tense

Students will also have a Writing and Reading Assessment

Reading and Writing Assessment.

The writing assessment is on the topic of Daily Life. It follows the GCSE format and will contain a writing task based upon a photo; a longer piece responding to set bullet points and a short translation into French. The reading will test a range of vocabulary and structures from the whole topic and contains a translation into English.

Students will learn and understand the following concepts through the study of Town, Region and Country and Travel and Tourist Attractions:

– the imperative

– the simple future tense

They will also have a Speaking and listening Assessment

The speaking assessment is on the topic of Cultural Life. It follows the GCSE format and will contain conversation questions regarding the entire topic as well as a role play and/or photocard. The listening will test a range of vocabulary and structures from the whole module.

– demonstrative adjectives and pronouns

– consolidation of the perfect and imperfect tenses

– en + present participle

– the pluperfect tense

– using a combination of tenses

They will also have a Writing and Reading Assessment

Term 6: Travel and Tourist Attractions/Travel and Accommodation/Holiday Necessities

Students will revise what they have learned during the course of Year 10.

Students will sit a Year 10 GCSE full Mock examination in all four skills - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
